Being Familiar With Fundamentals Of Wood Floor Refurbishment

Amongst the reasons why the procedure of wood flooring is still being used up to now is due to its resilience to damage and its lustrous appearance.  Nevertheless, along with these benefits is a major job and that is to make certain that your wood flooring undertakes maintenance occasionally.  The problem is, if you hire someone to fix it for you, it’s going to charge you a lot.  That is why it will be an edge if you are familiar with the basics of wood floor restoration.

Similar to the do-it-your-own laminate floor repair, refurbishing wood floor can be simple if you only are familiar with the basics of how to accomplish it.  You will not only save cash, you can also ensure that your wood floor panels are at all times in the best condition.

In restoring your wood floors, you would need to know the fundamentals of painting, refinishing and woodworking.  You do not have to be a master of any of these.  Only the simple know-how is adequate.  If you think you do not have even the basic knowledge of these things, then you might want to ask for help from those who do or use solutions that were designed to make wood floor restoration much easier.  On the other hand, if you would like to accomplish it the old-fashioned way, then here is a guide that you can make use of.

If your floor has carpets, make sure that you carefully take off the carpet together with the staples and nails being used to hold the carpet in position.  This is going to be rather difficult since the manner of taking off these nails and staples is very risky for your wood flooring.  Once the carpet has been detached, polish the floor by sweeping and mopping to remove dust that accumulated throughout the years.

Wood flooring is coated with varnish.  Remove the previous varnish.  Some people might choose a varnish stripper.  Others sand the varnish off.  If ever you choose the latter alternative, make certain that you use a random sander.  It has lesser risk of producing gaps in your floor not like belt sanders.

After getting rid of the varnish with the random sander, sand the floor to flatten them.  Like how you handle a lawn mower, start sanding by using 36 grit.  Move your way until you complete all parts of the floor.  Next, move your grit to 60 then to 80.  You do not have to mop up the floor every time you are done sanding.  Sweeping is enough.  Then, start filling gaps in the floor using wood filler.  Take some time to let the fill dry.  When the fill has dried out, sand the extra fills.

Next to the fill is the re-varnishing.  Before you use the varnish, sand the floor another time, this time using a 120 screen.  Clean the floor with a cloth for dust and then use the first coat of varnish.  Allow the varnish to dry then do another set of sanding using a 150 grit screen.  Clean up the floor and then do another coat of varnish.  Wait for some time to let the varnish dry.

Lastly, and the most significant part, look at your floor and marvel at the way you were able to effectively recondition your wood floor.

Adventures in Extremes- The Leopard Clutch, Judith Leiber or Express (focusonstyle)

Funny Story: Once upon a time I purchased a vintage Judith Leiber round suede
bag with fantastic passementerie detail. The bag was a unique style and exuded
absolute timeless chic. The little finding that held the shoulder strap popped
off so I took it up to the Judith Leiber showroom for repair.

As I sat in the waiting area, Ms. Leiber walked by. She looked at my bag and
