GMC Denali Road Bike 700 Best Review
Let me start with some history. Thirty a long time ago I worked a summer season work as a Schwinn bicycle mechanic. I loved that job. Within the process I assembled a ton of bicycles. I also purchased a Schwinn Continental 10 speed. Thirty a long time ago that was an awesome bike. Even by today's standards it could be a cool bike. That bike was stolen in 1982ish.
Move forward to 2006. I began obtaining the itch to ride a bicycle once more. I tooled out to WalMart and bought among individuals RoadMaster MtFurys for 53 bucks and rode it each day. I determined I needed a road bike because I was riding farther and longer, week by week. So, I ordered the 63cm GMC Denali Road Bike from Amazon.
The GMC Denaline 700c bike arrived via the US mail within a box that looked like they dragged it behind the mail truck for any couple of miles. I was worried that some thing was broken. Nevertheless, I opened er up and also the bike was fine. They packed it in a manner that permits it to take a little of a beating in shipping. Given that I was an previous bicycle mechanic I never even opened the manual and put the bike collectively in about fifteen minutes. Fundamentally that needs air inside the tires, mount the front, put the handlebar neck in location, place the seat in location, place the pedals on, modify the brakes, and ride. I chose to leave the reflectors off, for now.
My initial impression was that I discovered it awkward to really need to attain down to work with the brakes. I got utilized to that rapidly. My second impression was how effortless it was to go quick on this bike, compared to the el-cheapo quasi mountain bike described above. The 63cm, black and silver Denali, rides actually smooth and the derailers are light a long time better than the ones on the MtFury. I have by no means had, nor will I ever very own and multi thousand dollar bicycle. But, I will say that this bike is truly superb for the cost. I'm so impressed together with the top quality for underneath two hundred bucks.
The wheels and tires are very narrow and 28 inches. Combine that with the aluminum frame, shimano derailers and it performs pretty well.
Some folks never like the twist shifters. I locate that I like it really substantially. I did not believe I'd but, I do.
I wasn't in a position to spend a grand plus on a road bike but, I was doing lots of day-to-day riding. This bike has met my requirements completely. The WalMart bike is I guess precisely the exact same point except that it's a tad shorter. At 6'2 I come across that the 63cm bike has me quite significantly maxed out. I like it for the reason that it is tall but, if I have been any shorter it could be awkward. The height lets me truly get the maximum out of a pedal stroke for energy and speed.
If I had a complaint it could be that the gearing is actually a bit brief. That is certainly that in best gear, on flat ground I max out the bike actual fast. If it had a taller gear I could get much more speed. The bike seems like it may well be geared a little short. Around the plus side a reasonably athletic person wont must shift gears much. Just hold her in prime gear for most applications. You may get on it and boogie on down the road correct now.
The seat truly aint negative. In the event you think it's try that anvil around the MtFury. Holy cow. I such as the pedals around the Denali. They fit me perfectly.
Practically nothing in lifestyle is best. But, for the price tag, you wont come close to his bike. I promise you that. Try out it and see. I looked at used bikes just before I bought this one particular. They had been rather a little extra and looked rode really hard and place up wet. The most affordable bike I discovered, employed, near this price tag was a raggedy old Raleigh that the seller wanted $175.00 for. His bike had slick tires, scratches, and rust. It rode like an previous bike with slick tires and rust. This bike rides tight and looks genuinely nice. I uncovered a Specialized bike that looked completely applied up that the seller wished the price of 3 of your GMCs for. I determined that I could have three new bikes, back to back for the value of a single bike that I would not trust to have me round the block. I bought the Denali.
So, far I have ridden it a handful of hundred miles. I had a single flat tire that I patched on the fly and kept on riding. It can be good to have quick release axles. But, I carry a sawed off 15mm box wrench in by tool pouch. Performs fine, final prolonged time. They say that this bike is heavy. Come on now. It is genuinely not undesirable in any way. If I were inside the tour de-whatever it may well matter. But, for a day of riding it's a wonderful bike. It's a heck of lots lighter than what I was riding ya'll.
If this GMC Denaline bike were to be stolen I'd right away invest in another one.
Can you point me in the right direction to determine the value of a 1972/3 Derby (Raleigh) Bicycle?
I have a 1972/1973 one-speed girl's bike with stingray type seat and styling. Manufactured by Derby. I have no idea where to begin as far as determining value or finding someone who can do this for me. Any (real) assistance would be appreciated. Thx.
There was another question similar to yours on Yahoo a couple of weeks ago and the best answer was a good one. Looks like you might want to look for the serial number (usually on the side of a chainstay or under the bottom bracket). Hope that helps. There are some online groups for vintage bicycle enthusiasts. One that I know of is called Classic Rendezvous. Perhaps if you post on their forum someone can help you out also.
In Tokyo a bicycle is faster than a car: Useless information or cautionary tale? (Commute By Bike)
"In Tokyo, a bicycle is faster than a car for most trips of less than 50
minutes." Thus saith the Internet. Many of us who live or have lived in
congested cities will find this easy to believe. This "fact" was brought to my
attention by Ray, a reader of Commute by Bike, who found [...]
