The NFL Season for 2009
This season so far is VERY exciting and interesting. We are almost at the half way point of the 2009 NFL season, and we've experienced a bit of everything. First of all in the AFC, the South is being dominated by the Indianapolis Colts, who are in total control. The surprise has to be the winless Tennessee Titans. The AFC West, who would have thought that the Denver Bronocs would be in first place and undefeated! (huge game Monday at San Diego). The AFC North in first place is the Cincinnati Bengals (you read that right!). The AFC East is extremely tenacious, especially between the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and the New Jersey Jets - it is predicted that one of these teams will get a wildcard at the very least. In the NFC South the Falcons and Saints look very strong (again, look for one to win the division, the other for a wildcard). The NFC West is a three team race with the Seahawks, Cardinals and 49ers (tough one to call). The NFC North much like the West, is tight, but the Vikings do look strong (although up until now, have had a weak schedule). The usual tough NFC East doesn't seem as tough, with the Giants and Eagles looking like the two top teams, which will go down to the wire.
My prediction for the AFC and NFC Championship games? My predictions for the AFC are the Chargers vs Colts, with the Colts coming out on top, and in the NFC the Saints vs Vikings. In both of those games, I predict the Saints and the Colts to win, so look out for an enteraining Super Bowl between these two teams. You want me to pick a winner? Look for the Saints to win their first ever Super Bowl, and for Drew Brees to be MVP! Im so sure that I already bought my Labrador dog football jerseys in anticipation! One of my friends even bought his dog a Patriots dog jersey. You read it here first! Enjoy the rest of the season - I know I will!
Auto Dealership Service?
Why is it that so many dealerships out there have such crummy service? This is a serious question - I have had domestic, Euros, and Japanese cars and almost all the dealerships for these different makes had baaaaaaaad service. They were all very nice when I was buying a car, but to order parts, etc it often can be a headache and the parts people are not very customer service oriented (especially if you are ordering "extras" for your car). Seriously, would it not be in their best interest to keep you happy so you buy more cars from them? I was going to surprise my wife with a racing jersey (she is really into it) from a dealership, and they couldn't even order it after two weeks!!
Believe it or not there are people at the dealer who really want your service business. Service Manager, Service Director, General Manager, Owner. The service end is high margin for a dealer and they have been trying for years to get customers coming back for more than warranty work. If you have a problem ask for one of them. The service advisors try hard but they get worn out daily. Think about it, everyone the meet during the day is there for a problem and mad about it. They do not deal with a lot of happy people.
Discussions of raunchy rap lyrics and cross-dressing. Atlanta school board election takes odd turn. (ajc)
Khaatim S. El, former chair of the Atlanta Board of Education, resigned his
school board seat and took a job in New Jersey. But apparently he's still
here, based on this e-mail that he sent out urging voters to join him in
opposing Byron Amos in the runoff Tuesday for his District 2 post and
supporting Angela Brown, the top voter getter in the November election.
(El was a main interview in NBC’s Rock Center segment Monday night on the
Atlanta Public School cheating scandal.)
But this school board race seems to be deep in the muck right now and far
afield from the pressing education issues at hand in the city.
**As we discussed here a while back**, Amos is a VP of UGK Records, which
represents rappers with the usual repertoire of obscenity-laced songs.
In a September post, I raised the issue of whether Amos is responsible for the
music on his record label, posing these questions on the blog: _Are people in
publishing accountable for every word their publishing house puts out? Is
