Having A Critical Look At Subwoofers
Low wavelengths are a specialty of subwoofers that are a specific kind of loudspeakers. 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 music systems are where subs may be see and work to split up out the low frequencies from your speakers. Normally, subs are stored underneath the tables or behind the tv sets. Unfortunately, this approach of hiding the sub is not suitable for cars.
The truth is it is the contrary as speakers are concealed right in front or in the sections while the subs sit nicely behind the travellers, in the trunk. Cars being cars, installing large drivers in slim side panels will likely be impossible and hence subwoofers are usually set up in the trunks. Unbelievably, cars do not always come with a sub, that is strange, considering many people like bass!
Subwoofers are also available in varying sizes ranging from 8" - 15" in diameter and sometimes-even going up to 32" subwoofers. So with respect to the car and on the grade of sound preferred, the subwoofer is going to be chosen. But before you decide to go shopping, there are several things to keep in mind.
1. Prices are of primary concern so decide on just how much you want to invest in purchasing the system.
2. Always keep in mind that the purchase you make will directly impact the method that you listen to your favorite music.
3. Your favorite music might help in figuring out what is perfect for your vehicle. So if you're fan of classical, rock, or country one sub really should be fine but if you like rap, R&B, or techno then do not settle for anything lower than two subs.
4. With the size of subs decreasing due to technological advancements, placements can be made even in side doors and under the seats!
5. The internet is your closest friend. Research on reviews, check ownership details, view company websites, and form a clear image in your mind as to what you desire to be set up in your car.
6. Size is normally the most important factor. Typically bigger subs that are generally 15 inches going up to 32 inches generate lower frequencies while the smaller ones starting from 8 inches produce much higher wavelengths.
7. Power is another essential criterion for subwoofers and it's also essential that they may have their own power source. It is important to learn about their RMS and power ratings, as a higher rating will require another purchase of an amplifier.
8. Amplifiers are in fact not necessarily a bad buy but normally the best ones are those that enhance the subs’ RMS ratings without proceeding overboard. It's also critical that the total harmonic distortion (THD) of an amplifier can be as low as possible.
9. It is additionally important to know the a cone setup of a subwoofer is normally available in Kevlar, polypropylene, aluminum, or carbon fiber cone and finally paper. Paper cones are the lowest priced while carbon fiber cones can generate the best sound quality.
10. Purchase a subwoofer which is within your budget that could include either the cheaper MTX or the more expensive Infinity and Polk.

question on Pannier bags and Topeak rack compatibility?
Hey all,
I was planning on buying these items for my hardtail( 26"tires) with discs
1) Topeak babysitter rack for disc brake equipped bikes (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/topeak-babysitter-rack-for-disc-brakes)
and 2) these pannier bags : Deuter rack pack panniers (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/deuter-rack-pack-uni-panniers/)
Normally pannier fit most racks, but i was wondering if these panniers would fit, because technically the rack is a baby seat rack. Has anyone used this particular rack along with panniers or with a Topeak MTX trunk bag
You might want to look for disc-specific panniers also- the last thing you want happening is the rotor tearing a huge hole in the bag. But you could probably buy them both at the LBS (special order) and explain the situation. If the shop is cool, you could install them right there to see if they work, and if they don't, they stay with the shop. The panniers should fit, though. The only reason you have the rack is as some sort of platform on which to strap the panniers, and most any rack should do.
