What Cycling Gear Do You Need?
Back in the day, people would get on their bike and begin riding without any cycling gear at all. Nowadays, you might want to consider buying cycling gear so that you will enjoy cycling fully. If you are finding yourself at a loss as to which gear to buy, here is a concise checklist that can help you choose.
Cycling Jackets
If you want to cycle outdoors in rain or colder weather, then you would benefit from having a jacket. They are breathable, lightweight, and water resistant. They are designed for performance, as they allow users to still have the same freedom of movement as they otherwise would. Not to mention that they are stylish and can be worn even when not cycling.
Cycling Pants and Shorts
Pants are of course are designed to stay warm and dry while riding in cooler weather. They are usually padded and are able to absorb moisture very well. There are highly water-resistant pants available for rainy days. Biking shorts vary a bit, some are tight while others are looser. In general, they are very breathable, contain padding for protection and comfort, and help keep the body cool on those hot days.
Cycling Gloves
This has to be the most overlooked cycling gear of all time. True cyclists understand the value they provide, but those who are novices or just beginning to learn about the sport may think they are only a fashion statement. However, it does not only protect your hands from getting sunburned especially if you’re cycling during a hot day. It also protects you from unexpected debris and injuries if you fall.
Protective Gear
In addition to gloves, helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads are protective gear that should be considered. Always remember to put your safety first especially if you’re planning on cycling on busy roads and on rocky roads. You will never know when an accident is going to happen so better invest in the right cycling gear early on.
Bike Computers
You might want to buy one even if you are only thinking of cycling as a hobby. There are different types of bike computers so invest in the right one. When it comes to the right one, it really depends your purpose. If you are only in it for fun, then the basic bike computer will do. However if you are in it for the love of the sport, then you might want to consider more advanced bike computers.
When it comes to choosing the right cycling gear, the most expensive might not be exactly the most durable. Check out the items first either in person, or read reviews online before buying.

Santini 365 Windstopper winter gloves review (Bike Radar)
The Gore Windstopper membrane in these thin-weight 365 gloves from Santini
does an excellent job of keeping chills at bay. A textured printed palm gives
great grip and feel. The cuff is long and has a zip closure.
On the back, there’s a thick, stitched-in Scotchlite rib and reflective logo
so your hand can be seen when signalling at night. While the Santini 365
Windstoppers aren’t totally waterproof they keep your hands warm even when
wet.
